5 Helpful Tools and Equipment for Drawing: "Drawing Hacks" That Will Help Your Art Go to the Next Level
When it comes to art, there are no hard rules. You can do whatever you want and as long as you're happy with the outcome, that's all that matters.
With that being said, I have been drawing for years and have found some "hacks" that have helped my drawings go to the next level. In this blog post, I will go over five helpful tools and equipment that can help you when drawing.
They are; a projector, airbrush, mixed media paper, chalk markers, and eraser pencils. So without further ado, let's get started!
A Projector
A projector isn’t just for watching movies, it can be a great tool for artists who want to get exact proportions and measurements that may be difficult to freehand.
Tracing a projected image can save you hours upon hours of drawing. I find that using a project saves me time compared to using a grid method and is easier to use than carbon paper.
Projectors come in different sizes and prices so shop around to see what you need for your project that fits your budget.
Air Airbrush
Airbrushes are another great tool for artists. They can be used to add shading and texture to your drawings. You can also use them to create backgrounds or foregrounds.
Airbrushes come in both handheld and desktop models. Some artists prefer the handheld models because they're easier to control and portable.
Mixed Media Paper
Mixed media paper is another must-have for artists. It's basically just a heavier-weight paper that can hold up to multiple mediums.
This is great if you want to experiment with different mediums or if you're working on a project that requires multiple layers. I use an airbrush and sometimes watercolor paint to block in large areas, so this heavier paper can handle the wet mediums.
Chalk Markers
Chalk markers are perfect for adding highlights and super white areas to your drawings. I use chalk markers to add glistening effects or light reflections to my food drawings.
Chalk markers come in a variety of colors, so you can really get creative with them. Plus, they're easily erasable so you don't have to worry about making mistakes.
Eraser Pencils
Last but not least, eraser pencils are essential for any artist's toolkit. You can’t simply press the undo button or control z when you mess up. Eraser pencils allow you to erase small details without ruining the rest of your drawing.
Although they can slightly erase colored pencil marks, I use them mostly to erase bold pencil strokes from my sketch. Eraser pencils come in a variety of sizes, so you can find one that's perfect for your needs.
Conclusion
So there you have it, five helpful tools and equipment for artists. I hope you found this blog post helpful and that you'll consider using some of these tools in your own art. Thanks for reading! until next time! -Your Friendly Neighborhood Artist.
